Things to consider before applying for a Training Course
Time Keeping
You will be given a start time for any training you undertake with us. Generally this is 10am. Classes will start promptly and all Learners should be at the venue and ready to commence at that time. This ensures that the class is not disrupted because of late arrivals.
Attendance at Workshops
Make sure you are available to attend the training with particular reference to practical demonstrations and skills assessment dates. If these dates are missed, the Learner will have to attend another training date at an alternative venue to complete assessments.
Time Commitment
In addition to attending training dates, you are required to spend 3-4 hours per week outside of classroom sessions on course work and assignments. This is a big time commitment and if you are not free to make this commitment then it would be unadvisable to proceed with registration for training at this point.
Deadlines for Course Assignment
The deadlines allocated by tutors to Learners for submission of assignments must be adhered to. The Tutor cannot grant an extension to deadlines. An extension can only be agreed by the Training Unit staff and this will only be given in exceptional circumstances. Consistent work for the duration of the training is required in order to achieve a good result.
Previous Knowledge and Experience
All training is delivered in a learner centred manner with the emphasis on enjoyment, building confidence, increasing skills, knowledge and aptitude so that our learners can excel in their caring role.
There are no formal education criteria or selection procedures to undertake training with us. What is essential however is a positive attitude, a genuine interest in the care sector and a commitment to put the skills you are learning into practice. This will make any skills demonstration that might form part of course work so much easier.
