Monies raised through sponsorship cards will earn you vouchers, gifts, etc. depending on the amount raised. It is one of our main fundraising events in the years and we need the support of everyone to make it successful.

We have to fundraise as the costs associated with our local services and outreach is €12,000 per annum. There are approximately 2,700 carers in our catchment area and fundraising is used to provide services or make them available to these carers in order that they have a decent qualify of life which they deserve.

This Mass is being dedicated to Carers, former Carers, Young Carers and cared-for-people who are able to attend the mass. Fr. Sat. 30th April: Healing Day and Mass in Emmanuel House of Providence, Clonfert.

Emmanuel House of Providence is a Catholic centre for prayer and evangelisation. It is a new community of Christ's faithful in formation, located in the very heart of Ireland. It was founded by Michael and Annette Cullen who had given their lives to imparting the faith to young people in the United States and in Ireland. In 1985 they were led in faith to Clonfert with the desire to found there a Catholic spirit filled centre.

Clonfert — the Irish version of the name means 'field of miracles' — is the site of a 6th century monastery of St. Brendan the Navigator.

On the last Saturday of the month they have a 'Healing Day' when up to 1,000 people from all over Ireland and beyond assemble there to pray for healing. The Healing Day starts at 10.30 a.m. with the exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament and prayers and hymns, and then there are talks by Eddie and by the chaplain, Fr. Michael Kennedy. There is a break for people to eat their packed lunches at 1.00 p.m. (Tea, milk are provided). At 2.00 p.m. Eddie and his team lay hands individually on all who wish and pray for them, as at the Healing Services. Before the lunch break priests are available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and after lunch at least ten priests are there to celebrate this very important Sacrament. The day ends with Holy Mass which begins at about 4.00 pm.

Bus leaves Market Square (outside Carers Association Centre) @ 9.30am.

Please bring a packed lunch – tea & milk will be provided.

25th Anniversary Candles for Carers

We intend giving Carers in Laois and Offaly a candle to commemorate our 25th Anniversary which occurs this year.   The candle is a symbol of "triump over darkness" which summarises the role of a carer.   We know some carers but not all of them, so if you are a carer or you know a carer in Laois or Offaly please let us know and we will arrange to get a candle to you.   Otherwise, keep an eye on Mass leaflets in your parish as there will be masses dedicated to carers throughout Laois and Offaly during the year and we will be distributing the candles as these masses also.
