Election Campaign 2011

The Carers Association are calling on political candidates to make the voices of caring families heard in Election 2011. We cannot achieve this alone. We are calling on Family Carers to get involved - join our virtual photo campaign, write letters to your local candidates, attend our ‘Carers Meet the Candidates’ events, sign our petition and spread the word.

Family Carers are Ireland’s invisible workforce. Despite providing the vast majority of health and community care in Ireland, their experiences, difficulties and needs have long been ignored. Carers aren’t like other groups in our society. They are invisible, unrecognized in legislation, unvalued in our economic balance sheet and to date unheard by our politicians.

The Carers Associations Election Campaign aims to give Ireland’s army of invisible Carers the chance to have their say Election 2011 on February 25th. We are urging Family Carers to join our election campaign, to take action, and to spread the word.

Join our virtual election campaign by uploading your photo and personal message, write a letter to your local election candidates or attend or Carers Meet the Candidates events which will be hosted across the country. Carers and those who support them can also sign our petition which will be presented to An Taoiseach after Election 2011.

Our Election Manifesto: Act Now for Ireland’s Invisible Workforce outlines the 5 pledges The Carers Association are calling for in Election 2011.
